Bridal Gifts

My daughter, who is 9, was asked to be the Maid of Honor at her cousin's wedding. She is so excited and thrilled to do it!!! The Maid of Honor typically has some responsibilities to the bride to be, including throwing a shower, bachellorette party, helping pick everything out and get everything ready, etc. However, with my daughter being only 9, she was not enlisted to do these things - but she is a Maid of Honor none-the-less! So I decided in order for her to feel a part of her responsibilities on the day of the wedding, I made her a "Maid of Honor Bag of Tricks" to give to Kelsi the day of the wedding - things that might help her out and assist her in getting ready! I started with the card, which I made out of her wedding colors... And then in the bag I filled it with a small make-up bag, hairspray, deodorant, wisp on the go toothbrushes, dental floss, Q-tips, a compact brush and mirror, waterproof mascara, lip gloss, bobby pins, safety pins, and a small sewing kit. Kaitlyn is very excited to be a part of the action with this little kit!! And it makes her really feel like she is contributing!
For the bridal shower, Kaitlyn wanted me to make Kelsi a sign, we decided on the wording "Always Kiss Me Goodnight". I wanted to keep it neutral colors since we are not sure how they will decorate their place together. Kaitlyn decided on also giving a jar with Hershey's Kisses - and we tied a ribbon around the jar again with the colors of the wedding.

I started with a plain piece of wood that came with routered edges from Walmart and painted it with a wash of white and brown - subtle brown! :) I finished with the edges all in black and stipled the black along the top edges as well. I found the wording on line, I liked how it was in cursive and then in bold print - so I printed it up and quickly penciled it from the back to transfer the basis of the wording onto my wood plaque. I then painted it in black and added from hearts to the bottom corner. I then drilled a couple of holes at the top corners and insert some black polka dot ribbon - tied them in knots and WHALLA - a cute little plaque for the newleyweds! I think it turned out really good and was pretty happy that everyone I showed thought that it was vinyl! I hope they like it! :)
