Valentine's Day Cookies

For Valentine's Day, I decided to make some sugar cookies and some royal icing and let the kids go to town! They had a blast! The girls cut out the heart shapes, baked them and decorated most of them all by themselves! I put some pink, purple and white royal icing in some decorating bags and they LOVED that!
Here is Kaitlyn holding up one of her creations!

And Kaitlyn's plate of decorated cookies! She did pretty good writing with the bags of icing! I love the "call me" one!

And here is Kylee decorating her batch of cookies! These girls amazed me with their steady hands!

Even Bowe came up and got in on the action! He was holding the bag up so high and just letting the icing drizzle onto the cookies! It was pretty funny to watch!

Here are some of his creations. A steady hand is NOT one of his greatest qualities! :) And I obviously had something on my camera lens! It looks a little blurry on the bottom!

I coulnd't let the kids have all the fun! I made a couple of cookies for Bowe's little girlfriend, Shay. They sit and text ALL DAY - EVERY DAY! So I had to convert the "call me" to a "text me"! And then we put one of Bowe's on the plate as well - do not even think that V'Day one was mine! Ha ha!

The rest of the ones I decorated...

And of course, I had to make one for my lover! :)

Happy Valentine's Day Sweetie! Love ya!!

This weekend...

This past week or so has been hectic at work with some new projects and a friend leaving the office, so I have not had much time to even get on to view my blogs that I follow, let alone blog about anything on my own blog! :) sadly, at work is when I get online and do my blog stuff, once I get home, I HATE being on the computer! Anyway, so over the past couple of weekends, I have had this inescapable feeling and desire to make stuff! So I have been getting a few things made that I plan to put in my Etsy shop! Yeah! I am so excited! I have not got my Etsy shop all worked out and up yet, a couple more weeks and it will be hopefully, but it is fun getting to make stuff to put on Etsy! I am running out of room to put all of my homemade items in my own home! :)
Anyway, there are more to come, but here are a few sneak peeks...

Tell me what you think...:)

My sissy's baby shower!

So after months of preparation and days of stress and a lot of money - I was very pleased with the outcome of the baby shower for my sister! Saturday was the big day and not a moment too soon! My poor sissy has preeclampsia and poor thing, swelled little by little the whole time! Hopefully our little Alexis will hold off for a few more weeks since she is not actually due until March 17th!
Anyway, on to the shower!

Here is the table all set up with the Pooh decorations! My sister has love Winnie the Pooh all growing up and is even doing Alexis' room in Winnie the Pooh, so it was natural that we themed the party in pooh! My family are all oddballs and had a blast commenting all day how the presents had "pooh" on them! :)
I made little beehive looking cuppies with little handmade fondant bees on them for all of the guests and a little cake with a sleeping baby being watched over by some little bees for my sissy to take home - Kasey (her hubby) needed some treats too!
For more detail on the bees and the baby - go over to my cake/craft blog!
My mom found some adorable little Pooh decorations online and these little treat boxes to match! I totally get any crafty gene that I may have from her! She made the little candy bar covers welcoming "our little hunny", and she filled the boxes with honey teddy grahams, bit o' honeys and a stick of honey that you can either put on toast or put into a cup of tea! So clever!
This was the basket of prizes for the games!
Here is Christopher Robin's wagon full of drinks for the party guests! I wish I would have taken more pictures! I had a lot of the food themed with tags such as "veggies from Rabbit's garden", "Pooh's honey roasted peanuts", "Tigger's bouncy pouncy cheetos" (which were the twisty cheetos!), "Piglet's ham sandwiches" (I know a little morbid when you think about it, but we also had Piglet's "chicken" salad sandwiches since he is scared of everything!), and "Eeyore's rainclouds" (which were little cups with blue jello and a dollop of whipped cream on top)! They all turned out so cute! But alas - no pics! Sorry!
Here are some more of the decorations. We played a concentration/match game and I made the little papers to cover the answers to look like a patchwork quilt!
As you walk in, there are some Pooh decorations and I decorated Alexis' name for her room which we hung at the top of the stairs (totally my hubby's idea! Good one honey!)
A close up of the name. To see more, go to my cake/craft blog!

For my present to my sissy, I also made a diaper cake and filled it with goodies. We also used this as a game - which I totally was almost lynched over!! The game was this...I left the diaper cake out in PLAIN view for the first HOUR of the shower! So everyone could get a good look at it! It was pointed out by my family members as others arrived to make NOTE of it! Then when we put the game into play, I picked up the diaper cake - held it up, asked everyone if they had seen the cake...to take one last quick look at it...and then as I was walking out of the room with it, I told them that it was part of a game - to write down as many items as they could that were ON the cake display. OMG - you would have thought that my little basket of prizes included a large wad of cash that was to be won...because everyone got all angry, jumpy, irritated, rude, hmmm what other adjectives can I use...PISSED! As I walked back into the room WITHOUT the cake, everyone was telling me they did not get a good enough look, my back was to them, etc, etc...and surprisingly, one of the people sitting CLOSEST to the damn thing was the MOST ANGRY! I said, it was right by you for the first hour of the shower...and I walked out of the room before I got a beat down!! Sheesh people! The person who won got a freaking bottle of lotion and some disolvable bath petals - not a million bucks! Anyway, here are a few views. :)

Here is my Sissy, getting ready to open some presents! Look at that cute belly! Hello Alexis!!

Well, we had a lot of fun, some good food, some cute decorations and Melanie walked out with a LOT of stuff! This picture above is not even the half of it! Plus I really stuffed everything in bags so she could get it all into the truck to go home! Love ya sis! Hope you had fun!

My First Award & My Blog Tribe!

As I was hard at work this weekend preparing for my sister's baby shower, I received an award from my friend over at A Pocket Full of Buttons!
From reading her blog post, there was a challenge on SITS, it was to create your own Blog Tribe. Your 'tribe" should consist of 5 bloggers that are like your super commenters I guess. The ones that you know as soon as you post they will be there to comment about it. They support you, will laugh with and maybe at you, and will always tell it like it is.

My friend at A Pocket Full of Buttons, also received an award at the same time - The Sunshine Award...to which she combined the two together!
The Sunshine Award is awarded to bloggers whose positivity and creativity inspires others in the blogworld!!The rules for accepting this award are:

* Put the logo on your blog. Pass the award on to 10 bloggers.

* Link the nominees within your post.

* Let the nominees know that they have received this award by commenting on

their blog.

* Share the love and link to the person from whom you received this award.

In combining the two, she chose 7 of her blog friends to be a part of her tribe and to receive the Sunshine Award!

In doing my part, I am going to pass on this award to some of my blog friends - aka: my new blog tribe members!!!

Thanks my friends for all your love, support, and comments! :) I appreciate ya!

My weekend...productive - or broken??

This past weekend was filled with wrestling, broken bones, crafting, planning, and visiting!
Let's start with Friday. State Wrestling tournament decided to start on Friday at 4 in the afternoon! I had to work until 5 so my husband calls to tell me not to come down, it is cramped, about 100 degrees - to save all my energy for the all day Saturday wrestling.

I get a call around 6:00 p.m. from my hubby saying that Bowe, my step son, has probably broken his ankle, that he heard it pop twice while wrestling and even the trainer said it was too swollen and ugly looking to just wrap and let him wrestle some more. So my hubby says "I will pack up our stuff and call you when we are leaving so you can meet us at the ER".

Here I sit, all ready to go and I get a phone call from hubby informing me that Bowe thinks he is fine and is going to wrestle some more...ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? So swollen and ugly the trainer will not wrap it, but let's see if we can inflict some more damage!! Whatever!

He called me back around 10 saying that he won his last match and they are now going to stop and get something to eat and will be home...ummm...did you forget something...going to the ER to check out the ankle??? "oh, do you think we should?" Ummm, yeah!

So I meet them there and around 12:30 Saturday morning, we leave the ER with a huge, fat ankle, a walking boot, and an x-ray confirming a break!! And what does my step son have to say about it..."man, if I were that kid I beat, I would be embarrassed that I got beat by a cripple"!!

Here is the breakdown of Bowe the past year...August - hernia - surgery...November - broken collar bone - out 6 weeks from sports...January - broken ankle/leg - out 4-6 weeks. Bowe surmized that he is done now because he has had something wrong with the lower body, the mid body and the upper body, so he is done! I think he needs some CALCIUM!! :)

My sister's baby shower is coming up this week so I did a lot for that this weekend too - made some baby headbands, made a diaper cake, made some signs for the shower, made her baby's name sign, made some fondant decorations for the cuppies, and bought a lot of stuff for the shower! I cannot post any pics now - just in case my sissy stops by, I do not want her to see them! It is a surprise!
I also got to visit my mom and my little niece, Emilyn! She is getting too big! Here are some pictures!

Sunday, my hubby and I wanted to make a big family breakfast for the kids - well let's be honest, we made BRUNCH, not BREAKFAST! So we made hashbrowns, eggs, bacon and texas toast sized french toast! So yummy, but SO not on my low carb, low sugar diet! I was worried when I went to weight myself this morning...but come to find out, I had lost 2 more pounds since last Thursday! Yeah!

So a broken, but pretty productive weekend! I cannot wait until my sister's shower this coming weekend! I will have lots of pics to post I am sure!

Blast from the Past Monday

Here we go...my first Blast from the Past Monday! I found this first picture going through some stacks of photos...and I love it! Nothing better than the Roller Skating birthday party! This had to have been 3rd grade or somewhere about that time! I love how my friend Jennifer is posing off to the right and Megan's stance in the middle back cracks me up! Gotta love the clothes!
Obviously my sister and I thought we were hot shit back in the day! So we would take pictures of ourselves posing for the camera! First me...

Then my sister! Love the side half pony Mel! You ROCK those overalls with the pink belt!

Let me know if you play along! I would love to see some other people's Blast from the Past blogs!!
