Murder on Reality TV

Shamelessly enough, my husband and I are viewers of a few of the VH1 reality tv shows, one including Megan wants a Millionaire! I was shocked to find out the sequence of events that happened with Ryan Jenkins, one of the contestants on that show...
As I heard and read the stories of the events that took place, I am saddened for Jasmine Fiore and her family! I hate to believe that there are people on this earth that are so evil and hateful and sickening and...there is not an exact word to associate with this kind of psychotic mind set that is Ryan Jenkins.

My heart goes out to Jasmine's family!!

An apple a day...

So I decided to try my hand at covering a cake in fondant for the first time. I thought with the kids going back to school, making an apple out of 2 bundt cakes stacked on top of each other with red fondant and a green worm coming out would be fun to make!
Yes, I have heard that red is one of the hardest colors to get...I was going to give it my all anyway. So I kneeded and kneeded in the "no-taste" red coloring - thank God it is No Taste!! I knew that the color darkens after time, so I did this the night before. The next day it still looked a little hot pink and my pictures actually make it look orange! The pictures look more like a pumpkin! O well...as my daughter would say "I did my best"!

Cake Update - Girly cake!

So I made this cake the same week I made my last 2 - but forgot to add to my blog!
This was made for my ex-husband's 2nd ex wife who is the mother of my daughter Kaitlyn's 2 little brothers...don't think too hard! Anyway - it seems that since she and my ex got their divorce, we are actually good friends! Who knew! :)

Kaitlyn said that she loves M&M's so I crushed some up and put them in a whipped buttercream filling! She said it was really good! This was my first cake I have made that I did not get to taste myself...sad...O well - she said she enjoyed it!
Anyway, I was excited to be able to do a girly cake for her so I could practice my roses and rosettes!

I still need to work on my technique - but I think it is getting a little better! Slowly but surely!

Flaming Gorge Trip

We have been trying to make an every other year trip with our friends Dave&Geni and Bryan&Michelle and their kids. It is good time spent with friends and the kids LOVE hanging out together! It was sad this year because we planned our trip before we knew about Bowe's surgery - so he was unable to go...but he was there is spirit! Here are a bunch of pics from our trip! Enjoy!

Kylee did not feel too well on the ride up! We had to stop and get her a puke bucket just in case...thank goodness she did not have to use it! Hold on - just 3 more hours of driving...

Kaitlyn was ready to go with her pillow and I-pod! Peace!!

We are here...now it is time to hang out with friends...

and play!

Jason found a snake in our camp the first day! Luckily it was just a garter or gardner or what ever the crap they are - anyway, something that does not bite - no harm - no foul!

Some of the kids wanted to hold the snake! I think it scared the adults more than the kids!

Now for the best part...SMORES!

OK - NEXT LET'S GO RAFTING!!!!
On the way to get the rafts - the view was amazing!! I love that bridge!

OK Honey - use those muscles and get us down that river!

That night it was a little rainy and chilly...since the kids could not go down to the beach and play in the water, Jason gave them a game to play - the first game was to split into groups of 2 and go around the camp site and find something interesting to share...the younger girls came back with "a cool rock" and the older girls came back with a piece of a cactus...OK older girls win! They did that a couple times...then Jason up'd the anty - go around the camp site and bring back a person to come meet us! So they headed off in their search for a friend with their walkie talkies in tow. Soon enough the little girls were saying "we are heading back with someone" and the older girls saying that they did not believe them...sure enough a minute later the 2 little girls came back with a lady...laughing hysterically...I guess this lady and her long lost love were making use of the rain and their trailer if you catch my drift...the younger girls hearing some muffled talking in the trailer decided to knock! When the lady heard what they were doing - she thought it was too funny to pass up - she told them just a minute while she put on her clothes and then came over to meet us...a while later - she also came back over to have "steve" meet us!! Too funny! The little girls had no clue what was going on...so I thought this was one for the books!

The next day was VERY rainy! So we went and ate lunch at a local restaurant and got some yummy hot chocolate (umm...coffee for me please!)

After we got done eating we went over to the Flaming Gorge visitor center. We learned about how they made the dam and got to go from the very top to the water level and feed the fish! It was fun and educational! We try to hit one spot of education for the kids on each of our vacations and they seem to dig it!

This one was from the top...

And this from the bottom! Breathtaking!

The rest of the day was gorgeous - we went over to the beach and some decided to jump off of the cliffs...be careful Kylee!

WHEEEEE.....
Kaitlyn got up to jump - and right before she jumped in, she got really nervous and then embarrassed that she did not jump! I told her that it was brave of her to even think of trying and not to feel bad! She said that Bryan was too far away in the water and she did not think he would catch her! I think we are going to do some swimming lessons next year to get her more comfortable with the water!
Then we went over and just played in the shallow water!

All packed up and ready to head back home...but Kaitlyn needed a "Frenesca" for the road!

And here are just a few more shots that I took! I love the scenery!! Beautiful!!

Jon & Kate

So I watch a certain blog about Jon & Kate called http://truthbreedshatred.blogspot.com/.
So I seen there were some updates today of letters that were sent in regarding the show and wanting to shut it down for the sake of those 8 kids! The first letter said to view the pictures of the kids on TLC's own web site - so I went to the TLC website and seen a link for Kate's Blog. The last entry was from June and is about the "new chapter" of their life. I read some of the attached comments. Now I do not know these people, I can only base my own opinion off of what I have seen and what I surmize about them - so do not take my ramblings as gospel...BUT
I cannot believe how many people stick up for Kate and claim her to be such a great mom and talk about how horrible Jon is! Although I feel that neither of them are perfect (name me any parents that ARE) I especially am disgusted by Kate! Maybe it is because I am a mother and a wife myself, but I cannot even fathom her as a nice, genuine, caring human being, let alone a mother or a wife! She is so phony and bossy and holier than thou! I cannot stand it! I think it is funny how TLC posts images of Kate with the children in her sections of photos and the pics of Jon are dorky looking caught in the middle of action photos! Tell me who they are favoring!
A couple comments in particular really disturbed me...
Kate-I feel for you..I was sad to hear you are separating but not surprised. I think your situation is a typical one. Because Jon can't be a man and make decisions you were forced to take on that role and now it is the one he hates you for. Ironic and very sad. I also think that although you are seen being very short with him his apathetic behavior has driven that and it was deserved. Now he's a typical poor guy who feels he needs to sow his wild oats because he wants to party and be young again. RIDICULOUS. He made a commitment when he married you and should work through it. I would like to see him be a man for once and not some boy who thinks he shouldn't have any responsibilities
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? Because Kate was an absolute BI$@& to Jon, but Oh, it is HIS fault because he was not a "man"...because he is more passive than Kate, it is his fault she was such a rude, un-loving, un-compassionate person to her husband and essentially his fault that the marriage failed?? What is this "he made a committement" - did Kate NOT make that SAME commitement? It was not just Jon her lady!!
Here is another one...
Jon, Why did you renew your wedding vows in Hawaii back in February if you were already having problem?
Am I just an idiot or didn't they BOTH take those same vows in Hawaii - BOTH knowing that there were problems between them? I heard Kate on the episode where they admitted there were problems saying that it was been this way for 6 months or more before the out-cry about it all!
People just blow my mind!!
(stepping off of soap box now....)

Can you say OUCH!

I wanted to give a little shout out to my step-son, Bowe. He is undergoing surgery as we speak on a hernia! I cannot even imagine and guess I never will to the extent he is right now! Love ya buddy! Hope the surgery goes well!

All I want for Christmas!

OK, so is it too soon to be thinking of what I want for Christmas?? Usually I think more of the kids and what they want, but with my new fangled hobby of cake making/decorating, I am very anxious to get some new supplies! Dang, I wish that Santa Claus still existed and the idea of asking him for something that is high priced would still be ok...since my #1 item on my list is a Kitchen-Aid stand mixer!!

I actually found this one on line at http://www.kitchenaid.com/ ...it is a refurbished 5 qt professional heavy duty mixer! It is amazing! Here are the stats...

factory refurbished price: $199.00 - original price: $419.99

*6 month warranty

*475 watt

*bowl lift design (not sure if I would like that or not)

*5 qt polished stainless steel bowl with handle

*burnished flat beater, burnished powerknead, and wire whip

*direct drive transmission, all steel gears and construction

*commercial style motor protection

*soft start

AMAZING! I AM DROOLING!!

I would also love a bunch of new pans! I am already getting tired of my 9 inch round and oval pans! I need to venture out and do more! Maybe a set that I can use for stacking! That would be nice!!

Or some new cupcake or mini-cupcake pans!

I do not have a bundt cake pan either...so that is another option! I have seen the cutest little pumpkin cake made out of a bundt pan for Halloween! I would love to make that!

There are so many options!

Well, a girl can dream...can't she??
